Frequently Asked Questions
Echo and Grain — Project Terms & Contract FAQ
These terms help us both stay clear about what to expect. If anything here is unclear, I’m always happy to talk it through over a call or by email.
1. Overview / Who I Am
I am a sole proprietor, working in my home shop.
I focus on quality over quantity; each project gets the attention to detail it deserves.
To ensure excellent results, I try not to juggle too many jobs simultaneously.
2. Timeline
Typical project completion: 3‑4 weeks after all materials are ordered and work begins.
Start dates are set once deposit is paid and materials are ordered.
I will send you periodic photos as your piece progresses so you can see where it is in the process.
3. Payment / Deposit Schedule
To begin your project, a deposit is required. Then, payments are made in stages as the project advances.
See “How to Order” page for deposit details.
4. Changes / Revisions (“Change Orders”)
If you want to make changes after we begin (design, wood species, finish, dimensions, etc.), we’ll do a written Change Order that specifies what’s changing and how that affects cost and/or schedule.
The Change Order must be agreed and signed by both of us before I proceed with the change.
5. Delays & Unexpected Issues
Delays sometimes happen (wood supply, finishes, shipping, etc.). If there’s something outside my control that impacts the timeline, I’ll let you know as soon as possible.
Any major unexpected issues (e.g. material not available, discovered defects in wood, etc.) that affect cost or time will be communicated immediately; we’ll decide together how to proceed.
6. Shipping / Pick‑Up & Delivery
Once the piece is complete, I will notify you. You may pick up locally or arrange shipping at your cost (unless otherwise agreed).
Shipping costs, packaging, insurance (if desired) will be agreed before the final payment.
7. Warranty & Care
I guarantee workmanship for a reasonable period after delivery against defects in construction only and under normal use. Shipping back for repairs is at your cost. Sorry but I’m too small to absorb such charges. But in the rare case something dissatisfies you, we can talk and work something out as good humans do.
Manufacturer warranties, when applicable (e.g. lift hardware, monitor arms, etc.) will be passed on to you.
Care instructions will accompany your piece; proper use and maintenance are your responsibility (e.g. avoid extreme humidity, direct heat sources, etc.).
8. Cancellation & Refunds
If you cancel before I order materials, we can discuss a partial refund of your deposit, minus any material costs already incurred.
Once materials are ordered or work has started, deposit becomes non‑refundable to cover expenses and lost opportunity.
9. Acceptance & Final Approval
Once the project is done (finish applied, sanding etc.), I’ll send final photos or invite you to inspect.
Final payment is due upon your approval and once the piece is ready for pick‑up/shipping.
10. Legal / Contractual Details
This agreement (your acceptance plus these terms) constitutes a binding contract between us.
Any modifications must be in writing (email, signed document).
By making the deposit, you agree to these terms.
